Got a question? Then hopefully it will be answered below. If not, please contact us here.
What is an Escape Room?
An escape/puzzle room is a purpose built, themed immersive room (or sometimes many rooms!) that players enter as a team. Sometimes the goal is to escape… Sometimes you need to perform a task, find a lost relic or gain some secret information for example. The room will test your wits against many puzzles, challenges and riddles. You’ll have to work quickly as a team against the clock to solve clues, find hidden items, open locked doors and padlocks and crack codes whilst working through the immersive story. The route to success is to complete your given task within 60 minutes!

What can we expect from our experience at Enigma Escape?
On arrival you will be greeted by your games leader who will be there to guide you throughout your visit. They will start by giving you a team briefing and an introduction to the story into which you are about to immerse yourselves. Once inside your chosen room, you will then have 60 minutes to complete your given task. If you get stuck, your games leader will be at hand to give you some clues to keep you on the right track. You will also have regular time updates. Once you complete your challenge, your games leader will give your team a short debrief. Before you leave there will also be time for a team photo.

How do we book?
An official booking needs to be made to secure a time slot. Ideally this is completed online, but can also be organised over the phone. If the booking is last minute, please call us 01872 300080. Those who would like to book large groups over multiple rooms or businesses who require a bespoke corporate package will also need to call us to discuss their options.
-
Can I book a game on the day at short notice?
Yes you can. Please call us on 01872 300080 to see if we have any availability.
-
Can we bring extra players?
Please book for the expected number of players. It is however possible to add more players on the day, up to the max room capacity, with a card or cash payment once on site.
How accessible is the building?
We are located in a basement and the only access into the building is down a short set of steep granite steps. There is no rear entrance or ramp access. Once you reach the basement, a vast majority of the flooring is flat.
Are the rooms suitable for children?
Our rooms are designed with adults in mind (over 16’s) and can be pretty challenging. If, however you wish to bring a child, those over the age of 8 are welcomed (minimum age 10 for Life After Death). We recommend our Don’t Panic room as the most family friendly option. If you wish to bring a child under the age of 8, although this is not advised, it is at the discretion of the accompanying adults.
All under 16s MUST be accompanied by an adult (over 18) who must remain on site at all times. We also advise that any children under this age are accompanied by adult supervision inside the room, with one paying adult for every 3 children. This helps to keep things focused and results in the most enjoyable experience for all involved.
If you would like to know more about the suitability of our rooms for under 8’s, please call us on 01872 300080.
-
When should we arrive? / How long will the experience take?
The escape room itself will have a time limit of 60 mins. It is however important to ensure you leave longer than this for the full experience to allow for your team prep before the game and some time to debrief afterwards. We expect you to be with us for approx. 1.5 hours in total.
Please arrive no earlier than 10 mins before your booking time, as your room may not be ready and we would hate to give away any spoilers!
-
What if we are running late?
If you are running late you must contact us asap by phone on 01872 300080 or failing that via Facebook messenger. We will do everything we can to accommodate your booking, but if we are busy this may result in you losing time in the room or your slot altogether.
-
Is parking available?
As we are situated in Truro city centre, we unfortunately do not have a car park. Please allow enough time before your game to find suitable parking and make your way to our building in Lemon Street. Before 5pm, parking in Lemon Street is restricted to 1 hour, but after 5pm the restriction ends and you can park free of charge for an unlimited time. Our closest car parks are: Moorfield multi-storey, Lemon Quay multi-storey, Tabernacle Street and Garras Warf. Alternatively, you could take the park and ride.
What should we wear?
There is no requirement to wear anything other than your normal clothes. High heeled shoes are not recommended. Some bending and occasional kneeling may be required, but no strenuous physical activity such as climbing. Please bear in mind that the building can be quite warm in the summer and cold in the winter, so please dress appropriately.
-
Can I bring my dog to Enigma Escape?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate dogs. Due to the small rooms, dark areas and loud noises in our rooms, it doesn’t make for a safe or dog friendly environment.
-
Can we eat and drink during the game?
We ask that you do not eat or drink during your time in the room. Alcohol is not allowed on the premises and anyone appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused entry for safety reasons, with no refund being offered.
-
Where are the nearest cash machine and toilet facilities located?
Unfortunately, we do not have any toilet facilities on site. There are some public toilets just across the road in Lemon Street which are open until approx. 5pm.
The nearest cash machine is at Lloyds Bank at the lower end of Lemon Street.
-
Is photography permitted?
Photography and videography of any form is strictly prohibited in our escape rooms. The nature of the experience relies on the content of the room remaining a secret. You will have an opportunity for a photo, guided by your games leader before you leave so that you have a memento of your visit.
-
Are the rooms suitable if I have an impairment?
Our rooms contain both audio and visual puzzles requiring assessment of colours. We therefore advise that those with hearing and sight impairment are accompanied by at least one team member without impairment to ensure that their experience is as enjoyable and the tasks as achievable as possible. Sound effects and music are used in our rooms to help to set the scene and create an atmosphere.
Are your rooms physically demanding?
None of our rooms require you to do any strenuous physical challenges such as climbing; however, some kneeling and occasional crawling may be necessary. Chairs are available for use in all of our rooms if needed. The Bletchley Test room does have quite a low ceiling and some of the time you will be required to bend, especially if you’re tall.
I have a medical condition, are your rooms suitable?
Our rooms contain no flashing lights or lasers. There are however some bright projector lights and ultra violet appliances. We do not have any smoke machines.
-
What if I’m Claustrophobic?
Two of our rooms (Don’t panic and Life After Death) are actually both quite large in size. If you suffer with claustrophobia, you may wish to choose one of these rather than The Bletchley Test, as this room is small with low ceilings. For safety reasons, you will never actually be locked into a room, so you can leave at any point if necessary.
What if I have a phobia?
We have no real-life actors, dolls, dummies, mannequins or clowns in our rooms. The Life After Death room has a mild horror theme and does involve you being in the dark for large periods of the game.
-
Can I use a gift voucher as payment?
Yes, gift vouchers can be redeemed online when booking, by entering the unique code provided. These can also be used when bookings are taken over the phone. Our gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please note: no cash alternatives or refunds will be given. Vouchers cannot be spent at the venue, only when booking online.
-
Can we reduce the number of people in our team once we have paid?
If you need to reduce the number of team members that you have paid for, a refund of the difference can be given when over 48 hours notice is given. If less than 48 hours notice is given, or fewer people than have been paid for turn up on the day, no refund will be issued.
-
Can we have a refund or reschedule our visit?
Any bookings cancelled with more than 48 hours notice will be refunded in full or changed to an alternative date/time. If less than 48 hours notice is given, no refund will be given, but it may be possible to reschedule your booking to a mutually agreeable time.
