ACCESSIBILITY
We can tailor your visit to your individual needs
Here at Enigma we pride ourselves on treating each group individually. We have outlined our accessibility information below, however, we encourage you to discuss your individual needs with us directly via email or phone. There are often many personalised adaptations we can implement to our experiences to make your visit the best it can be!
Here's some recent examples...

Site Access
- We are in the basement of a grade II listed Georgian property, so the only entry is down a set of granite steps at the front of the building. There is a metal handrail as you descend the steps.
- Once at basement level, there is a very small step up into our hallway. There is also one step down into our reception area.
- If you have a wheelchair user in your group, as long as they are able to gain access to the basement, all floors and doors are suitable for them to move around freely.
Fear of the Unknown
- The entry door to this experience is simply closed behind you and never locked, so if a member of your team needs to leave the room, they can do this easily and safely at any point.
- This experience is made up of several average sized rooms, as well as some crawl spaces. These spaces require someone to be able to crawl and do a small amount of climbing. But this only needs to be one member of your group for a successful game.
- None of the puzzles require anyone to need to reach higher than 1.8 meters and there are some puzzles that require colour association.
- Several chairs are provided and are easily accessilble from all areas of the experience.
- Light levels are low at certain points during the game. Some areas have flickering torch light effects. If you have specific requirements re lighting, please speak to us, as some adjustments can be made. There is no strobe lighting in this game.
- This experience has some mild jump scares and loud sound effects. This is also something that can be adjusted on request.
- The clue system for this experience does not rely on the visual reading of any text. All interaction and story is delivered audibly as part of a highly immersive themed narrative. We have a loop system which can be connected to allow for improved access to those with hearing impairment.
- The theme and props that make up this experience are of a sinister and mature nature. Themes of death, sacrifice and madness are common. High quality and therefore realistic items such as prosthetics, bones and blood are frequent.
The Bletchley Test
- The entry door to this experience is simply closed behind you and never locked, so if a member of your team needs to leave the room, they can do this easily and safely at any point.
- This experience is made up of one small room, as well as two small adjoining areas.
- Due to the nature of our 200 year old basement, this room has limited head hight. At the lowest point it measures 5 foot, so anyone over this hight will be required to duck. We have designed it in such a way that the puzzles can be moved around and solved from a seated position. There are two small beds as part of the room theming which can be used as comfortable seating.
- None of the puzzles require anyone to need to reach higher than 1.7 meters and there are some puzzles that require colour association.
- There is one puzzle that requires good audible ability, however, we can provide the information required in a written format instead.
- Some of the puzzles require squating or bending, but this only needs to be achieveable by one member of your team.
- There is no strobe lighting in this game.
- This experience has some World War II related sound effects, such as air raid sirens. These are very subtle but can be turned off on request.
- The clue system for this experience is provided via text on a screen. If this is going to be unsuitable for your teams needs, please contact us.
General
- Every experience booked with us has it's own dedicated host. They will be solely focused on your enjoyment and safety. They will be observing your game visually and audibly via CCTV, so can act quickly to support you when necessary.
- Due to the nature of our building, we do not have any toilet facilities in our basement. The nearest ones are the public toilets at the bottom of Lemon Street.
- We do not have any dedicated onsite parking at Enigma. The spaces in Lemon Street are limited to 1 hour between 8am-5pm Mon-Sat. There are also several yellow lined areas which could be used with a blue badge.
- As a general rule, dogs are not permitted in the basement, however, medical assistance/guide dogs are always welcome.
- All of our experiences are presented in the English language, no translation options are provided.
- During festive periods we often provide sweets, chocolate and mince pies as part of our experiences. We take allergies and intolerances very seriously (as one of us has a nut allergy ourself) and have detailed ingredients lists and allergy information avaliable for all products upon request.
